Not long ago, Judy Blake discovered something unexpected — that art could open an entirely new world. Exploring watercolor and other media under the guidance of beloved teacher Erna Van Dyke, Judy found what so many of us quietly hope for, the freedom that comes with true self-expression. As a retired elementary teacher, she spent decades nurturing inspiration in others. Now, it's her turn.

Judy resides in South Orange County, California, close to her three children and five grandchildren. Watercolor became her natural, joyful transition into retirement — a place where playing, learning, and creating are all the same thing.

One of her greatest joys is painting home portraits, a beautiful way to honor family heritage and preserve cherished memories. The commissioned pieces featured on this site are a testament to that passion. Judy works from photos or, for local clients, a personal visit to the home.

Commissioned paintings are available in three sizes — 8x10, 9x12, and 14x16 — with pricing ranging from $150 to $250 depending on size and complexity. Whether an intimate keepsake or a statement piece, each painting is crafted with care and personal attention. Sizing and pricing are flexible, and Judy is happy to work with you to find the perfect fit for your space and budget.

Judy's work is a reflection of a remarkable discovery, and the happiness it continues to bring.
